Your Guest's Personal Bio

APA Executive Director Doug Quinn is a Marine Corps veteran who was living a comfortable life as an investment advisor on the Jersey Shore until he lost his home in Superstorm Sandy. Although he had the maximum legal amount of flood insurance coverage, Doug’s Insurance Company only offered him 37 cents on the dollar. In the process of fighting this injustice, Doug found out that many of his friends & neighbors were also being shortchanged & his eyes were opened to just how unfairly the American insurance consumer is treated by some unscrupulous actors who seek to profit from their hardship. Doug has fought, the insurance industry, FEMA & the bureaucracy of a disaster recovery gone wrong for 10 grueling years. Do to his activism on behalf of consumers, Doug was asked to take the helm as the Executive Director of the American Policyholder Association, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect American insurance consumers from fraud perpetrated by insurance company employees as well as the engineering and adjusting firms they hire. Coming from a financial background, Doug believes strongly in the important role insurance plays as a risk management tool and is committed to eliminating any elements of fraud that keep it from working for American families the way it is meant to. Doug values the challenge of having built the American Policyholder Association into a powerful force for change in the industry that effectively stands up for those who cannot defend themselves. I’m his personal life, Doug volunteers his time running United Survivors Disaster Relief, a 501(c)(3) charity that collects & delivers emergency supplies & recovery experience to disaster victims across America, rescues animals, & distributes winter clothing to the homeless..
